Dr. Angela Carter, N.D.
Dr. Angela Carter is a Naturopathic Primary Care physician, Midwife, and founder of Sacred Vessel Natural Medicine. She is delighted to serve the people of the greater Portland, Oregon area in their quest for optimal health. Her practice is welcoming to all individuals and families, and especially to those in the LGBTQ community.
Dr. Carter works with patients with a broad variety of health conditions, and specializes in Pediatric care, Women's health, Physical and Musculoskeletal health, as well as Transitional medicine, and Transgender health and wellness. Prior to becoming a physician, Dr. Carter worked for 10 years as a massage therapist and Chiropractic Assistant, and has a keen understanding of how to restore balance to the musculoskeletal system, as well as the integral connection between the health of the body and the mind. Dr. Carter has also received specialty training in Transgender Health Care, and strives to help her transgender patients find joy and comfort in their bodies by facilitating the process of gender confirming therapies and treatments.
Dr. Carter strongly believes the health of the community has a strong impact on the health of its members, and is committed to volunteering with several Oregon-based non-profits, including the LGBTQ Health Coalition of the Columbia Willamette, Outside-In's Transgender Health Clinic, and Basic Rights Oregon. Dr. Carter also works as a health advocate, teaching medical students and staff about LGBTQ health care and Natural Childbirth at Portland area schools and clinics.
Dr. Carter graduated from the National College of Natural Medicine and is a state- licensed physician. She has completed an externship in Natural childbirth under Dr. Mary Grabowska, ND, LAc, LM and is a board certified Natural Childbirth Provider.
Prior to her training in Medicine, Dr. Carter trained in sports massage and injury management at East West College of the Healing Arts, graduating in 2002. She has subsequently received training in Craniosacral Therapy, Trigger Point work, Myofascial Release, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Rehabilitation, and many other modalities. She loves to help her patients find strength in their journey to health, and to find grace in their transitions, and has devoted her life to working in the health fields.
